Canadian artist Lisa Strecko is a painter, illustrator and designer.
Having graduating with honors in Illustration & Design at Dawson College in Montreal, Quebec, Lisa relocated to Vancouver in 1986 (Expo ’86 was awesome!). She joined the Innovation Giftware team in 1988, and enjoyed a 16 year-long career as Senior Giftware Designer and Manager of the company’s in-house art department, which she played an essential role in its formation. Two of her best known lines, “Bramble & Clover” (adorable hedgehogs) and “Oak Leaf Collection” (character-faced leaves) continue to be popular among collectors.
2005 was a pivotal year with the move to Calgary and launch of ES Presentations Inc., a business specializing in rendering the stories, culture and milestones of individuals and groups. Clients’ examples of Living Art have appeared in articles in the ‘Calgary Herald’ newspaper, and in the October 2011 edition of ‘Business In Calgary’ magazine. Her representation of Inter Pipeline’s 10th Anniversary won the 2008 Oilweek/ ATB Financial Report Award.
She has had the privilege to paint notable legacies and milestones including:
• Former Alberta Premier Ralph Klein’s 25 year political career;
• The 25th Corporate Anniversary of Tervita (formerly known as CCS);
• 1988 International Lions Club Past President & retired Alberta Chief Justice, Judge Brian Stevenson;
• 2005 Ernst & Young Canadian National Entrepreneur of the Year recipient, David Werklund’s Family Legacy.
Lisa continues to expand her love and fascination of textured and tactile objects (from her giftware days) by sculpting 3D dimensional art pieces. She continues drawing and illustrating ‘treasure maps’, and creates annual pictorial journals to record pivotal and landmark moments throughout the year.
When not in the art studio, you can find her hiking and backpacking in the mountains of Banff Nat’l Park and Kananaskis Country. She has also attended a 90 day Mountaineering Skills Course in 2000 with Yamnuska Inc. of Canmore, AB.
